The Railroads layer was created for the primary purpose of providing a detailed depiction of railroad features to support the regional basemap. Service type, name, operator, owner and track type information are coded onto each segment. Passenger rail services are given priority from a data structure standpoint for rail lines that support both passenger and freight operations. The Railroads layer was created by manually digitizing network features over 2014 aerial imagery in the San Diego region, and best available satellite or aerial imaegry for areas outside of San Diego County. |
